Notes - On the afternoon of Wed., March 18, 1868, the beautiful mail line packet
steamer Magnolia, left Cincinnati, bound for Maysville, Ky. Aboard were a
crowd of people consisting of businessmen, pleasure seekers, and others
numbering about 100 people in addition to these were officers and crew of
about 45. When the boat turned the bend in the Ohio about ten miles from
Cincinnati, there was a terrific explosion, and about 80 people were lost
