Note: George enlisted in the Confederate Army in Louisa, KY. in 1862 and had
only been serving a short time when he received news of polly's death,
which lefe five small children at home.
He left to go home to see about his children and by the time he retuned, his
unit had been disbanded and placed into other units.
Later, after the end of the war George attempted to get a pension for
his disability and after his death his widow attemped to get a pension
for his service. Both were rejected.
His Company Muster Rolls for the period of 30 Apr., 1863 to 31 Aug., 1863
indicated he "deserted".
His wife Mary "Polly" (Prater) Colburn prob. died shortly after giving
birth to William Franklin Colburn.
