He was captured by the Ohio Army and died in a prisoner of war camp in 1865.

Note: In 1909, Milton A. Prater made out his Will, stating he had asked his children
to return home and care for him when he became agedas James M. Whittle had
asked him to do, but his children refused. He then left all his land and
belonging to his niece and nephew - James and Dollie Prater who cared for him
during his later years.
His father-in-law, James M. Whittle, made out his Will 9 Mar., 1870 Edgefield
Dist., S.C. ..... after leaving some land and money to his wife and children
he leaves the bulk of his estate to Milton A. Prater and Emaline.
Milton served with Browns Barbeirre Battalion of the Ala. Cavalry.

Florida in 1863 while home on sick leave.
After Hzekiah's death, his family lived with his father-in-law, Ambrose
Whittle on Cloud's Creek... west of Batesburg S.C.
His first wife must have died before 1860, because he is listed in the
1860 Covington Co., Ala. census as "single, clerking in a store".

Note: *Larkin enlisted 30 June,1862 Confederate Army at Edgefield Co.,S.C. and
served under Capt. Lewis Jones. Larkin was killed at the "Battle of Atlanta"
fought 22 July,1864. Emaline remarried to Henry M. Bradley but he died in
1880. She lived as widow in Vaucluse, Gregg Tw., Aiken Co., S.C. until 1890.
She then came West to Texas with her son, James Preston Prater
Larkin also served in Co. B & Aikens Regular Partisan Rangers, the 22nd.
